30 July
For tonights final pre-season friendly of the month Dons made the short trip to the away dressing room at Kingsmeadow to take on landlords Kingstonian. Unfortunately due to the lack of information from the Match Updates (or to be precise - none) I am unable to write much of a report. The following is what I do know:
K's went 1-0 up in the first half and Trigger went off with 2 cracked ribs, I understand this means he is likely to be out for about 4 weeks and will miss the start of the league season. Get well soon Trigger!
K's went 2-0 up in the second half. Dons brought things back a bit with a cracking goal from Dave Fry. Full time score was K's 2 - 1 AFCW
27 July
The Dons made the trip to Windsor & Eton in the sunshine this afternoon for the sixth friendly match of the month hoping to get some kind of a result after five defeats in a row.
Unfortunately things didn't quite go to plan when Dean Martin managed to injure himself during the warm up. Kevin Cooper took his place instead.
The first half finished 0-0. Ten minutes into the second half W&E took the lead due to a defensive error but it wasn't long before Trigger had a shot saved and an attempt by Andy Sullivan went sailing over the bar. Meanwhile, due to lack of info from our own game, Swindon 1 - 1 FFC( 16 lost soals turned up to watch Franchise FC)
Final score W&E 1 - 0 AFCW. Lots of second half substitutions.
23 July
Our heros made the trip to Walton & Hersham tonight for the fifth friendly of the pre-season campaign (only five more to go before the season starts). Unfortunately Dons went 1-0 down on 26 minutes after goalkeeper Andy Hunt missed a cross from the left and it was headed in. H&W went two up after Hunt missed another cross from the left. Despite the two goals reports say that Hunt played a blinder in the first half and although Dons had a lot of possession chances were few.
Following the break H&W went three up on about 55 minutes with what was described as an 'even softer' goal. After the third, Dons took more chances on goal giving the H&W keeper plenty to do, the substitutes, Trigger and Dave Fry, making a difference to the team on the field. Disasterously, from Dons point of veiw, H&W scored two more shortly before the final whistle.
Despite playing much better for most of the second half Dons were unable to make a difference to the result and the game ended 5-0.
22 July
Following yesterdays rumour of a friendly being arranged for 27 July it was confirmed by our beloved Chairman Kris Stewart (gotta do some creeping after I slagged off accountants on W&WW messageboard yesterday and he saw it lol) that AFCW will be playing Windsor & Eton away K.O. 3pm
21 July
Unconfirmed rumours have reached me that there has been yet another friendly arranged for Saturday 27 July. Who the opposition is I do not know. The rumour could well be true as so far that date is free.
The Scotsman newspaper had a good article on us today, to read it follow this link http://www.sport.scotsman.com/football.cfm?id=783262002
20 July - Match Report
AFCW's fourth pre-season friendly saw The Dons take the lead thanks to a first half goal from the clubs leading scorer Glen 'Trigger' Mulcairne from the edge of the box. Unfortunately it didn't take long for Borehamwood to cancel out our lead due to the lack of marking in the area. Borehamwood managed to take the lead before the break.
Borehamwood scored a 3rd on 52 minutes with a fourth on 65 minutes. Memhet Memhet managed to make the scoreline more respectable from a penalty with about 15 minutes to go.
19 July - Squad List Released
Finally the news that we have all been waiting for has arrived. Terry Eames today released the final squad list. The list can be found at
I'm sure everyone would like to thank those players who didn't make it for giving their all in the cause of AFCW. I would like to wish them luck in finding new clubs to play for.
17 July - Match Report
A crowd of around 1400 saw AFC Wimbledon's first ever goal at Bromley tonight. I am told it was a 35 yard screamer into the top right corner by Glen 'Trigger' Mulcairne in the second half. Trigger's goal cancelled out the Bromley lead but unfortunately they came back with a winner, Dave Fry was unlucky not to respond immediately. The real bad news was that one of the Bromley players was injured with a dislocated shoulder. Congratulations Trigger!!!
16 July - Salisbury Town FC
Tragic news for the Salisbury Town supporters earlier today. Their club has been withdrawn from their league and the club closed down. Visit the Salisbury Town messageboard at http://disc.server.com/Indices/167852.htm or the Clubs In Crisis website at http://www.clubsincrisis.com/

13 July - Match Report
1376 fans (including myself and my partner)turned up to watch a game of two halves in bright sunshine at Champion Hill as AFCW went down by one goal to Dulwich Hamlet of the Ryman League Div 1. The first half was played by what looked to me to be mostly the AFC starting eleven for the upcoming season although Joe Sheerin didn't play in either half (pretty sure I saw him in the Sainsburys car park at 2 o'clock walking away from the ground).
In defence I was quite impressed with Watkins and Reading in the first half. Reading looks as if he could be a hardcase if need be.
It looked to me as if the pitch hadn't been watered for a day or two and the bounce of the ball on such a hard surface caught out our players on many occasions. I was watching the Goalkeeper (Paul Oganga??) who at first worried me especially when two kicks never reached the half way line and never gained any height. With his third kick he redeemed himself and improved as the first half went on. Those around me wern't sure who was the AFC captain but we agreed that Ogonga may have been, he certainly did a lot of shouting from half way up in his own half. He certainly wasn't afraid to dive at peoples feet including his own team mates and made two or three very good saves.
The second half was rather dull a lot of the time but it did have it's moments especially towards the final whistle but no player stood out to me.
Memhet Memhet was awarded Man of the Match by the match sponsor Marc Jones for his display in the first half. Well Done Memhet!
10 July - Match Report
AFC Wimbledon played their first match as a club in a pre-season friendly against Sutton Utd at Gander Green Lane tonight in front of a crowd of 4657. Unfortunately the Dons lost 4-0 and had a goal disallowed for reasons unknown. At the final whistle there was a pitch invasion by AFCW fans. Well done to the lads, good luck for the next match on Saturday against Dulwich.

It has been announced today that AFC Wimbledon has agreed a sponsorship deal with Sports Interactive. I have some bad news and some great news. This morning Kris Stewart resigned as Chairman of WISA but the great news is that Kris is to take up the post of Chairman of AFC Wimbledon.
I would like to wish Kris every success in his new post and thanks him for everything he has done for the supporters of Wimbledon especially in recent weeks. Kris must now be living the dream of many football supporters to be come the Chairman of the club he supports. Good Luck Kris!

Following the latest round of player trials the 60 who made it through the first round have been cut down to 21. Those that made it include 23 year old Joe Sheerin a former Chelsea and Bournmouth professional and four AFC Wimbledon supporters who could well be about to realise their dream of playing for their own club.
