IS CHARLES KOPPEL A COWARD?

Yesterday, 27 July 2002, FFC took a trip to Swindon for a pre-season friendly match which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Did Charles Koppel attend that game?  No, did he hell as like.  Why not?  Cos he's a coward?  Probably.

Of the 1275 supporters that turned out for that match 15 of them were FFC supporters.  I wonder how many of them felt very isolated and alone in their area of the ground and were wondering why the hell they were even bothering to be there.  I suspect some of them will suddenly appear at a AFCW friendly or league match very soon.  Of course there are always a few die hards who can't see sense and no doubt they will keep going to Selhurst despite everything but that is their democratic right and we shouldn't abuse them for that.

Now, Charles Koppel keeps spouting on about how the move to Milton Keynes (which has been delayed somewhat) will be good for the club.  Everyone who has any sense keeps telling him that it won't be but he insists on going ahead with it.  If he believes in FFC so much how comes he manages to miss games?  Shouldn't he be showing his faith in the club, supporting the team through thick and thin?

Yesterday he didn't show his face at Swindon, shouldn't be any suprise of course.  Afterall, The Swindon fans were demonstrating against him overtly encouraged it would seem by the club management.  There were four AFCW supporters there demonstrating against franchising in football outside the ground.  Surely he isn't afraid of four football supporters?  I think he is.  Last season Koppel either didn't turn up for games or disappeared at half time.  He continually failed to turn up for meetings with supporters groups as well.  This is how he faithfully supports WFC and he expects the fans to have faith in him and his plans.  Sorry Charles we stopped having faith in you a very very long time ago but you can't see that can you.

Another example of his lack of support for FFC is the fact that he, along with Crystal Palace's Simon Jordan, failed to turn up for the demonstration against Carlton and Granada recently.  He moans about losing the ITV Digital money but does nothing about trying to get that money back, he leaves all the work to the likes of Delia Smith of Norwich City and the rest of the Nationwide club Chairman.  Admittedly the Chairman of Darlington didn't turn up either but, from what I heard from his interviews on TalkSport, he had a justifiable reason.  Unlike his first division colleagues he didn't spend money that he didn't have.

Charles Koppel is a coward in the face of justified demonstrations, if he stood up for what he believed in and faced the music game after game after game people might have just a little bit more respect for him.  Koppel should always remember he got off lightly compared to some Chairman.  I wonder how he would have felt had his car been overturned with him in it as happened to the Portsmouth Chairman.  I believe another chairman actually got a smack in the mouth from one supporter.

And finally I would just like to say that Kris Stewart will be a better football club chairman than Koppel ever will.
