PREMIERSHIP PLAYERS ARE A BUNCH OF LAYABOUTS

Since the formation of AFC Wimbledon and our entry into non-league football my opinion of Premiership and League footballers as being money grabbing, moaning layabouts has strengthened ever more.

Since the end of the World Cup in Korea and Japan Sven Joran Erikson, clubs and individual players (like Micheal Owen) have been calling for such things as smaller premiership and therefore less games, breaks in the middle of the season and other such things to make their priveliged lives just that much easier.  Players have been demanding higher and higher wages, bonuses etc despite knowing that for the vast majority of clubs the money to meet those demands just isn't there.  The players at West Brom even threatened strike action if they didn't get the bonuses they seemed to think they had been promised.

The life of a premiership player is a good one.  He trains maybe 5 days a week, usually in the morning, plays football maybe twice a week or in the case of some players he sits on the bench for 90 minutes twice a week and has Sunday off if he isn't playing live on Sky Sports.  He doesn't have to do much else unless he is making personal appearances on behalf of the club or the sponsors.  A player has an easy life getting to games, all he has to do is be on time for the luxury coach taking him and his fellow players to a game.

Now look at the life of a player in the lower leagues, such as the Combined Counties League.  He may play the same number of games as his counterpart in the Premiership maybe more, he has to get himself to matches, he has to attend training but on top of that he has to hold down a proper job unlike his much richer professional collegues much further up the pyramid.  On a Saturday he may have to work in the morning, travel to a game by car, play a full game and then get himself home again and does all this for no pay other than expenses.  And guess what - the premiership players complain they are knackered!!

All I can say to those over paid fancy dans in the Premiership is - ahhhhhhhhh didums.
