29 June 2002

Trials for potential players to be held on Wimbledon Common Extentions at 11 o'clock.  Some 200 players so far are to be looked at.  Dickie Guy, Wimbledon Legend, will be involved on the goalkeeping side of the trials.  Yes, we do know the World Cup 3rd place play off is then. 

Some 350 or so potential players, including internationals without clubs, turned up for the trials.  Terry Eames and his team whittled that number down to 60 which will be cut down again on Tuesday .  It is hoped to have a squad of 18 players starting the season.

National Boycott of MKDons.  It has been revealed that so far 7 Independent Supporters Associations have formerly voted to boycott MKDons.  The most prominent of those is Arsenal.  So, no big pay day should MKDons draw Arsenal at 'home' in the cup competitions.

AFC Wimbledon applied to the Combined Counties League and the club chairman voted 21-1 to accept the club into the league.  Two other clubs were also accepted into the league.  The draw for the League Cup was also made and AFCW drew Walton Casuals at home in the 1st round.

Pre-season friendlies have been arranged for 10 July (Sutton Utd), 13 July (Dulwich Hamlet), 17 July (Bromley), 20 July (Borehamwood) and 12 August (Enfield Town).  All games will be away.

Having applied to the Ryman League to join the 2nd Division the club chairmen voted 77-11 against accepting AFC Wimbledon.  The clubs that voted against are keeping very quiet.

13 June 2002

At a Dons Trust SGM today it was formally decided to form AFC Wimbledon. 

Terry Eames was revealed as Director of Football.  Terry played for WFC from 1977 to 1981 and has remained a supporter ever since.  He has managed three non-league clubs.  He is very much against the move of WFC to Milton Keynes and has publicly said soTerry promised a return to the football league in 10 years, I don't think we'll be holding him to that.

The players shirts were revealed to great applause and singing.

12 June 2002

The new club submitted it's application for affiliation to the FA on 12 June 2002.

The club has joined the London FA and been granted senior status.

AFC Wimbledon will compete in the London Senior Cup.
